Great sunny day - but avalanche risk is high

I had about 25 settlements today. A settlement is when the snowpack draps - essentially it is an avalanche on the flat. I have never experienced so many settlements in the 1 day - My previous record was about 7. I had compression test easy results today - exhibiting sudden collapse on surface hoar and facets located on top of Dec 3rd raincrust which is buried about 42cm down in the snowpack. We are running an avalanche course starting tommorrow so the conditions could not be better for the course.

First day with guests is the 23rd

We can't wait to start skiing with guests on the 23rd. It has been a long wait - but this is the best time of year. Lots of new runs to explore again for this winter

Cat Skiing Diary

19th December - more snow about 20cm over the last 24 hours. Will be punching in a number of snowcat roads tommorrow.
